// A Little About Me
Meet Adura Calhoun
Community advocate. Law enforcement professional. Military spouse.
I’ve dedicated my life to public service, spending decades in law enforcement as a Parole/Probation Agent for the Michigan Department of Corrections. I earned my Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University, and my passion for seniors led me to further my education with a Certificate in Gerontology.
I’m also a proud military spouse, married for 28 years to Robert Calhoun Jr., a Vietnam-era veteran. When we made St. Clair Shores our home, we committed ourselves to giving back. Now retired, we volunteer our time and resources to support local causes, from feeding the unhouses to sponsoring scholarships for local high school students.
I was honored to be featured in the February/March 2024 edition of St. Clair Shores Living Magazine in the articles “Super Star Volunteers” and “10 Local Women Who Are Making an Impact.”
Now, I’m ready to serve our community in an even greater way by representing YOU on the City Council.

Putting My Heart into Serving a Stronger Community
I’ve spent years volunteering in St. Clair Shores, because I truly love this city and its people. That love pushed me to run for City Council in 2025 so I can use my experience and passion to make our community even stronger, taking my commitment from volunteering to serving on a bigger stage. For me, it’s all about building a brighter future for the place I call home.
Community-Driven
I believe in a people-powered campaign because this race isn’t about me—it’s about all of us. I’ve spent years volunteering in St. Clair Shores because I love this city and its people. That passion is what drives me to step up, take action, and fight for a brighter future.
Caring Neighbor
“Calhoun’s volunteer history also includes the SCS Firefighter Annual Night at the Races, SCS Snow Brigade, St. Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee’s Nautical Mile Cleanup, Meals on Wheels through Servicers for Older Citizens (SOC) serving the Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods, and Detroit Free Press Marathons.
On their own, the Cahouns prepare and deliver Thanksgiving meals most years for up to 20 people and deliver them to local unhoused individuals, typically near the overpass at I-94 and Little Mack. They also personally sponsor an annual academic scholarship for a St. Clair Shores high school senior:
“City Council Member Dave Rubello said we are the hardest working couple in St. Clair Shores, and I’m proud of that title,” Calhoun says.”
